In today’s interview, I am delighted to speak with Rodney A. Butler, Chairman of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, who is at the helm of one of the most recognized Tribal casino brands, Foxwoods Resort Casino.
In this candid interview, Chairman Butler said that his leadership strategy during this challenging time has been to keep calm and to take the necessary time to make critical decisions and to be inquisitive by reaching out to other organizations for points of reference. With 6,000 employees pre-Covid and 2,000 employees currently, he discusses how it has been “all hands on deck for survival” and how they are now beginning to step back and take a breath.
We also had the chance to talk about upcoming initiatives and leveraging the organization’s brand equity including the opportunity for Tribes with online gaming. He sees internet gaming as the future and how it is truly incremental to our markets and economically beneficial.
