Native Youth Still Win this Year
Tonight would have been the sixth annual Native Strong Comedy Slam & Jam. Right about the time I’m writing this, I would be running over to the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego to setup registration, signage, table numbers, meet with the comedians and talent, and prepare for the kickoff of a live online auction of unique collectible guitars.
But alas, I am working from home in Reno, in sweatpants watching a hailstorm out my window. Like most of you, plans got changed. It feels like a lifetime ago when I was contacting past sponsors, taking down guest lists, interviewing with local news about our guitar auction. And then we heard about the Diamond Princess Cruise Ship. Tom Hanks. The NBA. Unsure if NIGA was still a go – receiving the press release it was officially postponed …
But I’m not writing today to recap the past weeks, I am writing to give thanks.
Thank you to the ticket holders listed below who paid it forward. Their response, when we told them the event was cancelled and they could get a refund, was they were in this to support the Notah Begay III Foundation and although there will be no official event, they still want their money to be donated. Please marinate on this list, knowing the individuals and companies listed below did help Native Youth this year. They did pay it forward.

You guys rock and the kids through the NB3 Foundation still win this year. And a special nod to the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego who refunded every cent of our investment, no questions asked. Thank you to everyone who was planning to attend, who placed a bid, donated a guitar, shared a post; who plan to join us again next year. It’s been a joy working with all of you and the Notah Begay III Foundation on this over-the-top annual fundraiser. See you in 2021.
